CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

MAC

“Ten more.”

“I’d rather die,” I ground out. And if I did ten more pushups, I just might. I wasn’t made for this life. Why hadn’t he realized this by now?

“You can and you will,” Wick ordered.

“No. Really. I don’t think I can do it,” I groaned as I nearly faceplanted.

“Eight more and I’ll carry you home,” he offered and fuck, that was an appealing offer. An offer I knew he’d follow through with because Wick never went back on his word.

“Fine.” I dipped, my arms nearly giving out as I tried not to touch the ground. “Can I do it on my knees?”

“Like a lady?” He raised a brow. “With that mouth?”

He had a point. “Please.”

“No knees. Six more. Come on, baby. We’ve got places to be tonight and can’t wait around all fucking night for you to finish your set.”

“Just leave me here.” To die. But I left that part out because he already accused me of being overly dramatic.

“You know I can’t do that.” He put his hands on his hips, raising his shirt just enough that I saw a delicious patch of tanned muscle. I dipped down one more time to distract myself from the eye candy in front of me.

“Why are you guys so obsessed with me?” I joked.

“The obsession probably goes back to that mouth of yours.” My spaghetti arms nearly gave out with his words as I lowered my body one more time. “Halfway there, baby; you’ve got this.”

“You’ve got a fair point,” I grunted. “What’s the plan tonight?”

“If you shut the fuck up for once, you might have an easier time working out. Ever think of that?”

I rolled my eyes. This man loved getting under my skin. I swear, I had a love-hate relationship with him. I loved when he touched me, but hated him every other moment of the day.

Another dip and I thought I’d die. Finishing the other reps nearly took me out, and when I was finished, I collapsed onto the gross gym floor, a pile of sweat and flesh. “I’m done and I’m dead.”

“Look at you. You did it. Good girl.” He reached down and offered me his hand to pull me up. It took longer than it should have and more effort than I liked just to reach up and place my palm in his. He yanked, using all his strength to get me to my feet. It was a good thing because I’d doubted I could do it myself. “Jesus, Mac, you’re like an overcooked green bean, just flopping around. Stand the fuck up.”

“I’m dead. You’ve killed me.”

“I’ve not killed you.” Wick shook his head. “You’ve still got your clothes on.”

“Unfortunate,” Asa added as he walked up. “Almost ready?”

“We’ll never be ready if Mac doesn’t stop fucking around.” Wick’s eyes roamed over me, though he was talking to Asa. “She’s gotten skinnier. I prefer her with meat on her bones. Maybe up the carbs and protein?”

“What if I liked this new skinny?” I glared at them both as they examined me with thoughtful expressions.
